List-Building Power with Your “Blog Squeeze”

By Alex Mandossian on March 26, 2008

Bird Flying Over CapitolIf you want to grow a bigger and more responsive list faster, better and easier … then I want you to seriously consider creating a “Blog Squeeze” page as a “back-door” entry to your blog.  By doing so, you’re online list will grow at head-snapping speed!

Every info marketer needs a blog.  And it makes sense for every blog should have a blog squeeze page because for less than $10 annually, you can double, triple and even dectuple (10 times) your opt-in conversion rates, just like I have, utilizing the “Blog Squeeze” principle.

Most information marketers who have blogs do NOT have “Blog Squeeze” pages for their “first-time” visitors. By adding the word “Today” or “Now” and creating a “blog squeeze” page, you will double even triple your opt-in rates.

Glossary: The “Blog Squeeze” page? It’s “back door” entry to your blog that forces an “opt-in” from first-time visitors you get from articles, blog posts, banner and classified ads, and offline or other types of promotions.

  1. Hi Alex!
This is an absolutely brilliant tip!!!
I’ve been trying to come up with ways to build
my list. I have a blog that is doing really well,
and a list that is steadily growing, but I
would like a more pro-active way to build up
my list and I never thought to do this.
    Thanks so much for sharing.

  3. Alex,

GREAT idea….I’ve already implemented it at

    http://www.ShouldYouStartACompanyToday.com

where I offer five ethical bribes – including a free sample business plan, free investor offering document and a free 35 minute audio. All of that for a first name and an email address.

The same things were all already offered on my blog page – but were probably lost in the full blog clutter….so this sole focus squeeze page is GREAT.

Will let you know how my opt in capture rates compare to your experience.

    See you in Orlando!

Alex, do you have empirical results to support adding a squeeze page to your blog?

  5. Alex – I will implement this and test the results. I have always believed that it is best to allow people easy access to the blog itself, but this makes sense in terms of offering people an ethical bribe to gain entrance to your knowledge.

    Hi Alex,

This is great advise. My previouse blog had a squeeze page and it got lots of names. My problem was my listing being very low. Now my page is listed on page 1 in google, but I don’t have a way to collect the names. What do you suggest.

As the Best Carpet Cleaning company in El Paso, Texas we get lots of hits on our page and we provide lots of great info. I just need a way to collect the names addresses and email addresses.

    Alex –

Thank you for this suggestion. I intend on implementing it asap.

My question is… how do you create that effect of a second page being overlayed on top of the first page?

Is there a particular program or software you use to generate that effect?

If so, could you pass on the link where I could find it? Thanks,

    Brady Flower

The “second page” (open in a new window) is an option through WordPress. If you have a link that you are embedding in your text you don’t want the reader to click on the link and be taken away from your page, right? By selecting the option to open a “new” page when they click on the link it opens another window for the reader and keeps them linked to your page at the same time.

    Thanks for asking.

Hi Alex, I download some of your mp3, and I must say I enjoy listening to it. Just a quick question, how would one do this for blogger?

  11. Awesome idea! Since I’m in the squeeze business I’m always looking for tidbits to help with conversion

Great information…A blog squeeze is something I have never heard about before. I maintain three blogs for my Portland carpet cleaning business that I maintain weekly. So the main benefit of a blog squeeze is traffic to impress google?

    Alex,

    Great video, very helpful. I’m a real estate agent and I don’t have a blog set-up but I’m planning on it. I have a couple questions;

    1. what blog service do you recommend? Blogger, wordpress etc?
    2. I’m a realtor however, as you have taught me, I’m still in the info-marketing business.. however I need a name AND number as I need to call my leads to get physical appts…. . any suggestions?
    3. what service do you use to create your squeeze pages?

    Thanks!
