Aloha Alex,

Thanks 4 turning your readers onto Twitter!

Mari Smith,

Thanks 4 the shout-out! That means a lot, coming from you, the Facebook Queen.

True, if you've already got a big name like Alex, Mike, John Reese, Paul Colligan, or Seth Godin, people will still flock & follow you even if you don't participate in social media (at least 4 now).

I wonder how long that will last with the reliance on social media 4 all things tweet worthy?

Twitter is such a great tool 4 making powerful connections with both the top dogs in Social Media, as well as "the little guy/gal" in business. Influence is now distributed to she who participates.

Hey there Cathy!!

Great to see ya blogging about Twitter. Couple tips:

1. Always include your twitter account URL or at least @name so peeps can jump over and follow you/tweet to you right away. I had to go searching for you and looked for you by name at http://summize.com but you're not there. I saw your acct is @wordpresswizard right?

2. The primary factor that shows whether a tweeter is interacting much or not is how many @replies they send out in their tweetstream (e.g. how many fellow tweeps they're having conversations with). I didn't see any in yours or Alex's.

Nonetheless, it's a personal choice. When your name is Tim Ferriss or Seth Godin (or may Alex M!), people listen regardless of whether you talk back to them.

You might enjoy this blog post I wrote with fast-track tips for biz tweeting: http://whyfacebook.com/2008/04/25/twitter-buzz-quick-tips-for-business-peeps/

Also, for sure you want to follow Twitter experts @coachdeb and @bookwarren / @warrenwhitlock.

Hope this helps! :)

Cheers,
Mari

Thanks Alex and all those that commented to his post. I have lots more reason to continue to twitter and I am going to check out the other suggestions now.

I have been twittering for a few weeks but I seem to need a reminder every once in a while to know why I am doing it.
