It mostly made me sad because it showed so clearly how harshly she was judged because of her appearance (which isn't that bad at all!), and how no one felt the slightest bit of shame about expressing their judgements.

We have so far to go.

1 Samuel 16:7 - "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." (NIV)

How quickly everyone was to judge Susan by her looks an actions and then, how differently they look at her now.

For me the most inspiring was her self-confidence, her charisma and her wit. THAT gave me goosebumps - much more than her beautiful voice.

She knew she will be well received. because she was well prepared. And the luck favors those who are well prepared...

I've seen this several times now, and each time leaves me feeling empowered and ready to take on the world. A wonderful example of pursuing your passion and living your dreams. Thanks Alex, for sharing this today.

Peace,

Yes, it's a Kleenex experience for me every time! I love the irony that her song is 'I Have a Dream', which she is now living. Susan is no shrinking violet- look how she handles the crowd's response with such aplomb- but her humility and quirky character has heretofore lacked an appreciative audience for her to express herself. Now she's been heard for who she is in the realm where she shines, that uniqueness becomes part of her trademark style. Good for her and may she fly high! (Wonder when she & previous surprise winner Paul Potts will do a duet!)

Wasn't she AMAZING?! I've watched that video two times now and both times was in tears!! Thanks for sharing it with even more people Alex! Any time I see music being widespread it makes me so happy!

YOu know what else you'll absolutely love? Playing for Change: Song Around the World "Stand by Me." It's about 5 minutes long, and also gets me tears. They start with one guy outside singing "Stand by Me," and then as it progresses it shows them 'looping' each recording with people ALL around the world recording different parts to the arrangement.

Absolutely outstanding!

Take care mentor Alex! :-D

What I found most interesting about
this video, is that this lady seemingly
had no issues about her looks, or more
importantly how EVERYONE reacted to
her.

I have watched shows like American
Idol since they came out, and she had
more self-confidence and self-esteem
than most of the "beautiful" people I
have seen come through there.

She knew her gifts, and her place in
the world, and it was fabulous to see
that rewarded.

Although the gift of goosebumps
and the magnitude of emotions
that are felt by hearing her
sensational voice are undeniable,
I think the bigger gift here comes
from the lesson we were most
likely all taught by our mom's from
five-years-old, on, to not judge a
book by it's cover.

What I appreciate most about
Susan Boyle is the reminder to
remain open and non judgmental
to receive the gifts that are
around us everywhere.

Thank you, Alex, for sharing!

Love & Light,
Bonnie

When you see someone under those odds stand up and be counted because they have a belief in a dream that will not be denied no matter how long that dream has hibernated you know in every vibration of the world that this was the time and the place for the discovery of this particular voice to be heard. I have clicked on the site daily since April 16th when it was first introduced to me and I am still inspired to tears every time. Blessings
