By Alex Mandossian on March 23, 2010

If you teach at seminars, workshops and Inner Circle gatherings, then you want to take advantage of the power of the Action Guide principle.

Click here if you’re in a hurry to watch, comment and share the video.

I’m writing here from my own experience when I say, “Action Guides accelerate the learning of your students, clients, patients or customers!”

Do what it takes to invest your time and money to create and get Action Guides into the hands of your audiences and the watch your sales and profits will grow!

I give my students Action Guides even when there are thousands in the room such as Harv Eker’s Peak Potentials events.  Click here to learn more about Peak Potentials and why their events have so much impact for lifelong learners.

If you attend seminars, then you already know how any speaker who takes the time, energy and makes the investment to put an Action Guide into your handswill boost and cement your retention on the content being taught.

At this point, you may be saying to yourself:

“Alex I that…”

And if this is coming up for you, watch the video – twice – and comment, share and invite two other friends or colleagues to view it and get their opinion.  Fair enough?

What To Do Now: Click here to watch video – it’s Productivity Tip #28 – and comment and share your opinion about the power of Action Guides.  Next click on the video tab on my Fan page watch my other Productivity Tips.

I also encourage you to invite two other Facebook entrepreneurs to become fans so they too can get more done faster, better and with less effort.

  1. If you’re a speaker, trainer or professional facilitator to utilize the Action Guide principle for your audiences.

It takes time, energy and money, yet the monetary results and personal impact you’ll make on your audiences will be indelibly etched in the minds of your target audience.

    Alex,

First, thank you for sharing with me the power of using action guides with my teleseminar and webinar marketing. Doing an action guide helps both the presenter and the audience.

And you are right, it does show you are willing to go the extra step to keep people engaged.

Second, I do like the term “action guide.” As you know, I am a big proponent of using the right language for maximum effectiveness. The term “action guide” is perfect because it provides both a benefit and a description of what it is. This is FAR more powerful than using a lame description like “note sheet” or agenda.

Alex – In a time when so much is instant and then easily forgotten (esp. online) the benefit I like the most about Action Guides is that it gives the listener, attendee, etc. something to hold onto and remind them of their learning.

Alex what has been your most creative use of an Action Guide?

I commented on the FB page. The action guide as shown is a mighty powerful tool. I won’t ever do another live training or teletraining without an action guide.

  5. Hi Alex

Thanks for the great “Action Guide” tips. This is exactly the type of productivity tips I need to be more effective and efficient.

I look forward to learning more of your great productivity tips.

BTW: I would be very helpful to have a follow up video regarding the “how to” and “what it looks like” strategies you use inside the “Action Guide”

    Thanks again

As an Idea Implementation Expert, I wholly support the concept of Action Guides. As I work with seminar leaders and content providers internationally, I point to Alex as the prime example of a successful marketer who wins by making sure his students implement what they learn. Speakers who use Action Guides make my job, helping people take the action they commit to, much easier!

    Hi Alex

I value your advice on using an Action Guide in any type of presentation. True success occurs when Learning meets Action as a result of using all the senses during learning sessions. The combination of hearing, seeing, writing, sharing and repeatative reviewing results in effective successful action.

    Cheers my friend from GBS!

  9. Hi Alex

I’m so glad you’re putting out these tips. They’re concise and easily actionable.
The term Action Guide makes such a difference – my response is totally different to when I hear ‘binder’. I sense it in a different part of my body and it has a a completely different energy.

I would guess a high proportion of ‘binders’ and handouts end up stuffed away in a pile, or on a floor or in the bin. Most of them are rarely used or even looked at again. Your binder calls out to be given a place on a book shelf. Once there, the spine branding calls out to be noticed when you want to revisit ideas. I imagine if it was on my bookshelf I would find myself mentioning it to others as well.

Alex – I am actually at Guerrilla Business School and enjoying your time on stage. I can’t wait till you present and use your Action Guides! You are awesome.

  11. Elva Cruz says:

Alex, yes, I agree that if it can be put on a shelf where it can be used and recommended to others, most recipients will be glad you took the time to put your handouts, etc. together and they will remember you for future presentations.Your ideas and information are life-changing, thanks. Elva

  12. Hi there I like your post

  13. Valerie says:

I could not agree more Alex and I appreciated getting one from you at GBS. Why does Peaks not use them for all courses? As a 20 year trainer, I was so impressed with the quality of the participant guide at MMI that I joined Quantum to see what the ‘Paid for’ program materials would look like…very disappointed.

I watched few posts from your blog, also have bookmarked your RSS during the last weeks and I seen a permanent improvement of skills.
    Nice job.

  15. Hi Alex,
Thanks for the Action Guide you provided in one of your classes at Guerrilla Business School. It really was impressive that you took the time to put that together, and it was very helpful as a participant. Good tip! I’ll be using this myself.

    Hi Alex,

I just wanted to say a big thank you for your great effort at GBS last week. You did a terrific job and I really appreciated the action guide you produced!

You know, just before you handed out that guide I was telling a few people how I really felt that GBS should be providing us with handouts so that we don’t have to write so much and can focus more on what the speakers are saying (they agreed, by the way)…and then you handed out your action guide. I wish all the speakers would have put in the effort you did.

Thanks so much Alex, for the guide and the great knowledge that you shared with us! It was obvious to everyone how much you really cared about our success.
