In the last blog post I talked about two ways to repurpose. Today I′ll talk about a third – the eBook.
An eBook is the digital equivalent of a printed book and is downloaded directly from the Internet as a PDF file.
A great example is the eBook PowerPause by Mr. John Harricharan.
PowerPause is a digital book that was repurposed several times over. He took one concept and splintered it into many products. With each repurposing, there′s more profit. [Read more…]

You may be aware that Paul Colligan and I are about to launch a new course titled Podcast Secrets.
This course stemmed from the book that Paul and I wrote together called The Business Podcasting Bible.
In the book we discuss the 10 commandments of business podcasting. Today I′ll share 5:
1. Thou Shalt Ask My Audience: Go directly to the market first and ask them what they want. Create the message from their feedback. [Read more…]

In episode #37 of Marketing Online Live, Paul and I discussed motivating large companies to embrace time shifted media delivery using the carrot vs. the stick.
I am a stick person. Why? Because people are more motivated when you take something away from them versus offering something they may not have.
Carrot and stick is basically equivalent to pain and pleasure.
The “take away,” as it′s often called in sales, is extremely important. If someone has always been poor and dies without money it′s not as painful as if someone who has been rich and then goes broke. [Read more…]

In episode #36 of Marketing Online Live, Paul and I discussed our upcoming course, Podcast Secrets.
We learned that before launching any type of course, it′s always best to have a workshop so people can give you feedback on the course.
For instance, what the modules should be about, what to name them and any other comments.
There is also the difference between being an amateur or hobbyist and being a professional. [Read more…]
In episode #33 of Marketing Online Live I answered a very simple, but powerful question: How do I add podcasting to my marketing mix?
Here′s the answer: You do exactly what you′re doing right now.
You find out what your market wants most.
You answer their questions, and you deliver the content you′re delivering right now as an information marketer, an author, an independent professional or a small business owner. [Read more…]
In episode #34 of Marketing Online Live, Paul and I were discussing the fact that National Semiconductor gave away 30 gigabyte iPods to all their employees.
The reason? They understood the value of the training and learning this technology offers, and they were willing to spend good money on it.
However, I think they completely missed the boat on this move.
They were lazy in their approach. They knew they had to get iPods into someone′s hands. Do you know how much “entertainment,” not education, you can get on 30 gigabytes? [Read more…]
It′s time to take the iPod to a new level. There′s more to life than just a “play list.”
There′s a “learn list” a “news list” and any other type of list you can think of.
Play list means music with the iPod, but the content on an iPod can go way beyond music. [Read more…]
In my last few blog posts I addressed the first 2 things that every business should know about podcasting.
#3: The game is won when your listener takes you with them.
Statistically speaking, most podcasts are consumed at the computer. The only way they′re going to take you with them is if you make it simple, easy and convenient to do so.
I take the path of educating my audience on how to consume the podcast on the go on the iPod or whatever podcast catcher vehicle they have. [Read more…]

Repurposing: Hard Cover & Soft Cover Books
A good example of repurposing content is a hard cover book called Greatest Direct Mail Sales Letters of All Time by Richard Hodgson.
This book is repurposed content.
Richard took all of the sales letters he accumulated from friends and colleagues during the 40s, 50s and even before and compiled them into a book that sells for almost $70. [Read more…]
